Statement of Faith
About the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God penned by people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is the primary source of our beliefs and practices.
About God
We believe in God who is the Creator of heaven and earth. We believe that there is only one God who exists inseparably as a Trinity of persons, namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, and co-equal in power and glory.
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God made flesh, the only begotten Son of the Father. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a life of perfect obedience to the Father. Jesus was crucified, buried, raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven. He sits today at the Father’s right hand praying on our behalf.
About the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is worshiped and glorified together with the Father and the Son.
About Humanity
We believe that humanity is made in the image and likeness of God. Humans are uniquely created by God with the ability to think, feel, and freely exercise the will. Humans are social beings with an innate need to relate to God and other people. We believe that people have a stewardship responsibility to care for the world that God created.
About Sin
We believe humans have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard for righteousness. While the image of God in humans is not lost, it is marred by the effects of sin. Because the consequence of sin is death, all people are destined to a life of separation from God and are in need of God’s saving grace.
About Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God made possible through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Repentance and faith are required to receive the gift of salvation. All who repent and believe are made holy through the Word and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.
About the Christian Life
We believe that a person saved by Christ ought to live as a committed follower of Jesus. As a public profession of faith, those who believe are to be baptized in water by immersion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. We believe in being filled with and led by the Spirit who empowers us to be Christ’s witnesses, produces spiritual fruit making us like Christ, and endows us with spiritual gifts that glorify God, build up the Church, and allow us to serve others.
About the Church
We believe in the one, holy, universal, and missional Church. Everyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ makes up the Church, which is the Body of Christ. We believe that believers ought to gather together regularly for the purpose of worship, fellowship, partaking of the Lord’s Supper, and the study of God’s Word.
About the Mission of the Church
We believe that the primary task of the Church is to make disciples of all people in every nation. We accomplish this task by going to all the world proclaiming the Good News of salvation, by baptizing believers in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and by instructing believers to obey and live out the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
About the Last Days
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will return again to establish his Kingdom —the New Heaven and the New Earth. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all believers unto eternal life, and that the fate of those who do not repent and believe is to be eternally separated from God.
